Women’s Golf Looks To Defend Title At Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational     

Texas A&M women’s golf heads to the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, hosted by Hawai’i March 13-14 at the Kāne‘ohe Klipper Golf Course, looking to win the event for the third consecutive season. The Aggies won the team title last year with a 5-under 859, as Maddie Szeryk of London, Ont. took home the individual championship with a 9-under 207.

In addition, the Aggies have produced the individual medalist each of the past three seasons, with Marijosse Navarro winning the event in 2015 and Thanya Pattamakijsakul taking home top honors in 2016.

Szeryk leads the Aggies into the 54-hole event with a 70.84 stroke average. She is joined in the lineup by Amber Park, who was named SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week for her 1-under performance in her last outing at The Dickson, Elizabeth Caldarelli, Courtney Dow and Chloe Velasco. Ariana Saenz competes as an individual as well.

The 54-hole event tees off with 36 holes on Tuesday with a 1 p.m. CT shotgun start. The event concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday.

The Aggies are one of 13 schools to take to the par 72 / 6,099-yard course at the Marine Corps Base Hawai’i. In addition to Texas A&M, No. 6 Texas, No. 17 Oklahoma State, No. 24 Houston, Colorado State, Hawai’i-Hilo, Hawai’i Pacific, Pepperdine, Rutgers, UTEP, Washington State and Osaka Gakuin from Japan join hosts Hawai’i in the field.
