Steam Whistle Brewing At Canadian Open

Celebrating Canada’s National Golf Championship
Steam Whistle’s Good Beer Folks will be all over the RBC Canadian Open

TORONTO, Ont. (May 30, 2019) — There are only two continuously running golf tournaments on the PGA TOUR that have been staged longer than the RBC Canadian Open — the Open Championship and the U.S. Open.

It is good company to keep in the world of golf. When this year’s tournament tees off on June 6th (although that date is the official start of the tournament, festivities around the Open actually begin June 3rd) at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club, it will be the 115th year for Canada’s national golf championship, and 100 years since the tournament was first played at Hamilton’s historic golf course.

“This is an exciting year for Canadian golf and especially the RBC Canadian Open,” says Tim McLaughlin, Vice-President of Marketing at Steam Whistle Brewing. “A new date makes it a great kick off to the summer, and we are looking at an exciting field with some of the greatest golfers in the game today teeing off.”

As the official beer sponsor of Golf Canada and both its men’s and women’s national championships, Steam Whistle Brewing will have its Good Beer Folks along for every birdie and bogey along the way.

•The Steam Whistle Patio will be set up in Spectator Village along the “Hamilton Fare Way,” pouring Steam Whistle’s pure pilsner, Von Bugle Munich-style Lager and Fat Tire Amber Ale. Steam Whistle’s fleet of vintage vehicles will be on the grounds, along with some typical backyard games, like beer pong golf. There will be Steam Whistle golf swag and samples for giveaways.
•The Hamilton Fare Way, incidentally, will highlight Hamilton’s vibrant culinary scene in between the 17th and 18th holes. There will be eight local restaurants serving up their fare, and Steam Whistle beer to pair with it.
•For the first time at the RBC Canadian Open, the RBCxMusic Concert Series will provide nightly entertainment on the Friday and Saturday of the tournament. Grammy-nominated country band Florida Georgia Line will take the stage Friday evening, and Canadian rockers The Glorious Sons will perform Saturday night.

Steam Whistle is also giving away a VIP experience at the RBC Canadian Open. About Steam Whistle Brewing:
Steam Whistle Brewing remains true to the old-world method of brewing pilsner. Its Czech Brewmaster ensures each batch is crafted flawlessly following the Bavarian Purity Act of 1516 to craft a pilsner that is true to what pilsner should be: crisp, golden and well-balanced. One of Canada’s leading independent craft breweries, Steam Whistle is made with only four ingredients and no additives or preservatives. Steam Whistle’s Bohemian-style pilsner is characterized by a floral hoppy aroma, a sweet, full malty character that is balanced by a pleasant bitterness and a clean, crisp finish.
