LondonOntarioGolf.com Announces 2018 Best Of London Golf Awards
6th Annual Awards Name New, Multiple Winners

January 1, 2018 (London, ONT) – LondonOntarioGolf.com (est. 2004) today announces the winners of the 6th Annual Best of London Golf Awards.

In total, the 2018 Best of London Golf Awards drew 2,700 votes for this year’s winners from London and area in 18 categories.

This year, there are three multiple winners, with Tarandowah Golfers Club, The Bluffs Golf Club and Pine Knot Golf and Country Club finishing the big winners.

LondonOntarioGolf.com readers chose the Martin Hawtree-designed Tarandowah GC in Avon, Ont. as their Favourite Public or Semi-Private Golf Course; the Toughest Course in London and Area; and home of the Best Par 3, Best Par 4 and Best Par 5. The Par 3, 216-yard No. 12 – named Uhtku – is joined by the Par 4, 468-yard No. 11, Donn, and the Par 5, 588-yard No. 14, Pontiac.

The Bluffs GC in Port Stanley also came up a big winner this year, capturing Best Short Course (9 or 12 Holes); Most Improved Golf Course; Golf Course Offering Best Value for Green Fees/Membership; and Most Scenic Hole. Owners Mark and Sue Trowman have recently spent more than $200,000 to expand the layout from nine to 12 holes, and to re-route and beautify the course which saw the planting of 9,000 trees.

The par 5, 627-yard No. 9 hole at The Bluffs, which runs adjacent to and high above Lake Erie, and rests just minutes from Port Stanley’s main beach, was voted Most Beautiful/Scenic Hole.

The third multiple winner this year is Dorchester’s Pine Knot G&CC, taking home honours in the categories of Best Clubhouse/Pro Shop Staff; and Best Food and Beverage Offerings.

“With Tarandowah Golfers Club voted as Favourite Public or Semi-Private Golf Course, as well as Toughest Course, again our readers have shown that they appreciate both beauty and brawn: they acknowledge world-class golf course architecture from Hawtree, welcome links golf and also accept a challenge during their rounds,” said LondonOntarioGolf.com publisher and editor Jeffrey Reed.

“In addition, multiple wins for The Bluffs Golf Club is good news for the local golf industry,” Reed added. “Today, expansion at local clubs is as rare as a hole-in-one. So, it’s great to see local entrepreneurs investing heavily in their golf operations. In addition, the Trowmans are buying into a trend in their offering of a quicker 12-hole round.”

Each of this year’s winners will be recognized in multiple ways throughout 2018: online at LondonOntarioGolf.com and its sister publication, LondonOntarioSports.com; and at the LondonOntarioSports.com annual awards banquet and luncheon in June 2018. Each of this year’s winners are now able to use the 2018 Best of London Golf Awards logo in their print, online and on-course marketing.

Voting for the 2019 Best of London Golf Awards commences in September 2018 and ends at midnight New Year’s Eve. Ballots will be available online at LondonOntarioGolf.com.
