8th Annual Survey Recognizes Readers’ Local Golf Favourites

Jan. 6, 2020 (London, ONT) – Today, LondonOntarioGolf.com (est. 2004) announces the winners of the 2020 Best of London Golf Awards, as selected by our readers.

The 8th Annual Best of London Golf Awards drew about 5,000 votes in 18 categories representing golf courses, golf practice facilities, golf professionals, golf retailers and area golf tournaments.

“The Best of London Golf Awards offer a fun way to recognize 18 winners in 18 categories, and allow each of the winners the opportunity to market themselves as the best in their field as voted by our readers,” said LondonOntarioGolf.com Publisher and Editor Jeffrey Reed. “This year, we have multiple winners, new winners, as well as repeat winners from our seven previous Best of London Golf Awards.”

This year, there are four multiple winners. Pine Knot Golf and Country Club in Dorchester claims Favourite Public or Semi-Private Golf Course, Best Clubhouse/Pro Shop Staff and Golf Course Offering Best Value. The Bluffs Golf Club in Port Stanley wins Best Short Course 9 or 12 Holes, Most Improved Golf Course and Most Beautiful/Scenic Hole – the 627-yard ninth hole bordering Lake Erie.

There were two additional multiple winners in Elgin County. The private St. Thomas Golf and Country Club won Best Par 3 – 170-yard No. 4 – and Best Par 5 – 556-yard No. 15. And Fore Golfers Only in St. Thomas won Best Golf Retailer.

The final multiple winner is FireRock Golf Club in Komoka, which won Golf Course Offering Best Food & Beverage, and Toughest Course.

With the 2019 RBC Canadian Open played just an hour away at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, the PGA Tour event was voted Best 2019 London & Area Golf Tournament.

New winners this year include Highland Country Club for Best Par 4 – 443-yard No. 16; Len Foran, voted Best Golf Instructor; and the 1st Annual Steen Sr. Memorial Golf Tournament for Heart & Stroke at Caradoc Sands Golf Club in Strathroy, voted Favourite Charity Golf Tournament.

Tin Cup Driving Range & Mini Putt, and Bob Martin’s Golf Practice Centre, held onto bragging rights as Best Miniature Golf Course and Best Practice Facility/Driving Range, respectively.

Each of this year’s winners will be recognized in multiple ways throughout 2020: online at LondonOntarioGolf.com and sister publication LondonOntarioSports.com; and at the LondonOntarioGolf.com awards banquet on May 1, 2020. Each of this year’s winners are now able to use the 2020 Best of London Golf Awards logo in their print, online and on-course marketing.

Voting for the 2021 Best of London Golf Awards commences Sept. 1, 2020 and ends at midnight New Year’s Eve. A survey link will be available online at LondonOntarioGolf.com.
