5th Annual Awards Name New, Multiple Winners

January 2, 2017 (London, ONT) – LondonOntarioGolf.com (est. 2004) today announces the winners of the 5th Annual Best of London Golf Awards.

In total, the 2017 Best of London Golf Awards drew almost 1,200 votes for this year’s winners in 18 categories.

This year, there are four multiple winners, with Highland Country Club and Tarandowah Golfers Club the big winners.

Highland CC was recognized for hosting the Best 2016 London & Area Golf Tournament: the Mackenzie Tour PGA Tour Canada’s Freedom 55 Financial Championship. Highland also won in the category, Best Clubhouse/Pro Shop Staff. And, its 184-yard 10th hole with signature pond and fountain won as Best Par 3. That hole acted as the opening hole at the Freedom 55 Financial Championship.

LondonOntarioGolf.com readers chose the Martin Hawtree-designed Tarandowah GC in Avon, Ont. as the Toughest Course in Southwestern Ontario. The 384-yard sixth hole, named Cu Chullain, was voted Best Par 4, while the 588-yard 14th hole, named Pontiac, was voted Best Par 5. Tarandowah celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2016.

Crumlin Creek Golf Club – Southwestern Ontario’s only 12-hole course – repeated as winner of Best Executive Length Course, and Most Improved Golf Course.

The City of London municipal golf system was also a double winner, in the categories Favourite Public or Semi-Private Golf Course (Thames Valley Golf Club), and Best Value for London and area golfers.

Each of this year’s winners will be recognized in multiple ways throughout 2017: online at LondonOntarioGolf.com and its sister publication, LondonOntarioSports.com; and at the LondonOntarioSports.com annual awards banquet and luncheon in June at Highland Country Club, date TBA.

Each of this year’s winners are now able to use the 2017 Best of London Golf Awards logo in their print, online and on-course marketing.
