Accessory Review: Trion:Z, by Jeffrey Reed
At first glance, the Trion:Z therapeutic bracelets and newly-released therapeutic necklaces appear to be simple, fashionable accessories. However, take a closer look at this popular, affordable magnetic-ionic gear and you’ll be surprised at the science behind its design.
I’m not about to confess to absorbing Zen-like consciousness after donning the Trion:Z bracelet and necklace, but I did shoot an incredibly low late-season round. I have, however, been writing more than golfing as of late, and suffering from headaches – it’s a syndrome we Canadian golf writers refer to as winter-is-around-the-corner-itis. So, I’ll give the Trion:Z a shot off the links.
However, you can only be impressed after reading the Carlsbad, Calif.-based company’s literature. And, these babies are hip, too, unlike some copper and magnetic gear that (with apologies to all you senior golfers) conjures up images of arthritic joints. Trion:Z, then, has won half the battle already with its attractive, modern design and colours.
Here’s the Trion:Z story. The necklaces and double-loop bracelets are made of a fabric called Stayers, which contains an abundance of minus-ion producing minerals women into the fabric – according to the company, more than 50 times the minus-ion producing power of other rubberized ion or Titanium-based necklaces, and 20 to 50 times higher than competing ion bracelets. Trion:Z explains, the human body absorbs positive ions from things such as electronic equipment and cell phones, and therefore we can experience fatigue, lack of concentration, muscle and joint pain, and nausea. The Trion:Z gear, according to company literature, creates a boost in the body’s magnetic field, embracing its natural aura, and thus battling muscle and joint pain and such.
The magnets in the Trion:Z gear are different than competitors, too. Medical grade magnets in a patented Alternating North-South Polarity Orientation is designed to increase the effective area of magnetic field, and penetrate deeper into tissue fibre and muscle. There is no dead zone between magnets.
I’m wearing a Trion:Z black and white double-loop bracelet, and red necklace. You may have seen these products worn by Major League Baseball players. They’re catching on with golfers, too, thanks to modern aesthetics. The bracelets are available in 24 colour combinations, and come in three sizes: small (6.3 in.), medium (7.1 in.), and large (7.9 in.). There are eight necklace colours, and three sizes: small (16.5 in.); medium (19 in.); and large (22.5 in.).
I like the Trion:Z bracelet and necklace. So do more than 170 PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Champions Tour pros, since the bracelet launch at the 2006 PGA Merchandise Show. They’re both cool looking, and who knows? Maybe next time I’m waiting on the fairway for that slow foursome to finish on the green, I’ll find my Vijay Singh-like serenity – and put a stop to these headaches.
Jancor Agencies in Montreal (514-813-2292) distributes the Trion:Z gear in Canada. The bracelets retail for $24.99, while the necklaces are priced at $39.99.
