Accessory Review:
Pro Mount-tee, by Jeffrey Reed
Editor, LondonOntarioGolf.com

No sport rivals golf when it comes to memorabilia collecting. For that matter, name the last time you watched a TV show involving Major League Baseball players or NHL players demonstrating for adults the finer points of the game? You don’t see too many 50-year-olds running out to buy a catcher’s mask and knee pads, but you will watch their eyes light up like a Christmas tree when shopping at the local pro shop. Kids in a candy store ...

There’s an often-told joke, “Stick a golf image on anything, and it will sell.” That may be true, but there’s no laughing at a new product from a Stoney Creek, Ontario-based father and son team, Bob and Chris Rekiel.

Bob, a retired machinist, and son Chris, who has a keen interest in woodworking, are co-founders of, Pro-Mount Tee. Made of quality Appalachian Cherry Wood, the Pro Mount-tee allows you to properly display a golf ball instead of sitting it on the fireplace ledge, or even hiding it in a drawer. A favourite logo ball, tourney ball, hole-in-one ball, autographed ball or ball from a famous club now has a suitable home.

Bob explains, he started woodworking with Chris, making bowls and candlestick holders. “And I came up with the idea of a golf ball mount because I had a golf ball that I wanted to display,” says Bob. Thirty or 40 prototypes later, the Pro Mount-tee was born.

Manufactured in Kitchener, then shipped to Stoney Creek where a four-coat finish is applied, the Pro Mount-tee boasts cherry wood which “has that rich, striking ray-fleck appearance making it a leading choice for furniture, cabinets and musical instruments,” says Bob of the wood known as, American Mahogany. He adds, “It’s the beauty of the wood that makes this product so special. Each tee mount has its own fingerprint, with the shade of brown and the wood grain.”

Bob and Chris also handle all the packaging and marketing, but they have big plans for their little product. It sells for $12.95, and is available in pro shops, retail outlets and online at the company web site. There’s a special Win Mount Pro Mount-tee, with “Longest Drive,” and “Closest to the Hole” decals on the mount base. A write-on decal on the base bottoms allow for personalization. As well, the Pro Mount-tee Combo partners your favourite company or resort ball and Pro Mount-tee.

Good things do come in small packages. The Pro Mount-tee is the perfect way for me to show off my George Knudson Spalding golf ball, and my vintage Wilson Staff Sam Snead ball.
