Equipment Review: Accu-Length Expandable Junior Golf Clubs by Jeffrey Reed
OK, so junior is ready to join you at the range, but you just forked out $500 for that new driver and you’re a little light in the pocket. What’s more, junior is growing faster than John Daly’s waistline.
No need to worry. Accu-Length Expandable Junior Golf Clubs are here to rescue you. These clubs grow inch-by-inch with your youngster as he or she grows, thanks to a unique spacer system. It allows the same club to be used safely and effectively for up to five years, creating better performance. And, since there is no need to purchase a new set of clubs each year, that helps create consistency in the youngster’s swing – not to mention allows you to afford green fees.
London Ontario Golf put Accu-Length to the test, with the help of beginner golfers, Lucas and Jacob. They tested an iron from the AL 2000 Series, colour-coded Red and made for youngsters 51.5 in. to 59.25 in. tall.
Lucas said, “I like the clubhead. It’s not too heavy for me. The grip took some getting used to, though.” Jacob replied, “Everything about the club is great. I like the grip, and the club weight is perfect. I like how the club can extend as I grow. And the red colour is cool!”
Accu-Length clubs are available in the following series: AL 500 (Purple), 39 in. to 47.5 in.; AL 1000 (Yellow), 45.5 in. to 55.5 in.; AL 2000; and AL 3000 (Grey) 55.5 in. to 62.25 in.
Accu-Length clubs were named Best New Equipment Product at the 2005 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Says Rick Rutter, president, COO and founder of OnTrack Sports, maker of Accu-Length, “It’s very important that beginning and junior golfers have clubs that are fit to them throughout the entire growth process and our products are designed to do that better than any other junior clubs on the market today.”
