PGA Of Ontario GolfTalk Canada Tour Championship Results
(Niagara Falls, Ont., – October 16, 17, 2012) – The weather cooperated and lead to some great scoring at the GolfTalk Canada Tour Championship. This new event on the PGA of Ontario’s tournament schedule saw the top players from the regular, assistant’s, senior, and ladies tours compete for tour honors at Legends on the Niagara, Battlefield Golf Course.
Ron Kenesky (Twenty Valley Golf Club) played a very consistent game over the two days and managed to squeak past first round leader Bradlee Ryall (Academy at Braeben) by one stroke to claim Regular division honors. Kenesky carded rounds of 70-71-141 for his victory over Ryall 69-73-142 and Brian Hadley (Thames Valley Golf Club) 72-70-142.
The low total for the entire event was shot by Ed Maunder (Deerfield Golf Club) 67-67-134 to claim the Assistant’s division. Maunders superior play earned him a seven shot victory over his nearest competitors John McCann (Fairtree Golf Centre) 72-69-141 and Kyler Murphy (Kings Riding Golf Club) 69-72-141.
The Senior division proved to be very competitive as well. Dan Clark (Sleepy Hollow Golf Club) carded rounds of 72-74-146 to edge Ken Tarling (Ken Tarlings Golf Academy) 74-73-147 and Matthew McAvoy 72-75-147 for senior honors.
The Ladies division was up for grabs after day one as only three shots separated the entire field. At the end of day two it was Jennifer Jaszek (Copetown Woods Golf Club) who took the title with some fine play. Jennifer fired rounds of 76-72-148 to edge Margaret Trainor (Dundas Valley Golf Club) 79-74-153 to claim the Ladies title.
Players qualified for the season ending Tour Championship based on their finish in events during the season. It was a fitting conclusion to the PGA of Ontario stroke play season with very deserving champions crowned in all four divisions. Congratulations to all players who qualified and competed at Legends on the Niagara!
