GOLF CANADA LAUNCHES 2ND ANNUAL NATIONAL GOLF AUCTION IN SUPPORT OF GOLF IN CANADA

Live online auction to run June 1-July 1 with proceeds supporting development golf programs in Canada

Oakville, Ont. (Golf Canada) – Golf Canada is pleased to announce the second annual Golf Canada Auction in support of development programs across Canada is now live and online at www.golfcanada.ca/auction.

Beginning June 1, golf enthusiasts from across the country can bid on opportunities to play golf at hundreds of golf courses across the country.

By supporting the Golf Canada Auction, Canadian golfers can help to raise funds for junior golf initiatives such as National Golf in Schools and CN Future Links. Proceeds raised through the Golf Canada Auction also help to fund Team Canada as well as provincial player development, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the province of the course bid upon which the winning bid originated.

Now in its second year, the Golf Canada Auction will look to raise more than the $80,000 in program funding that the 2010 auction generated in support of Canadian golf.

“The Golf Canada Auction is a terrific opportunity to generate funds for grassroots programs and junior golf initiatives across Canada,” said Scott Simmons, Executive Director and CEO of Golf Canada. “We are reaching out to golfers and our member golf clubs across the country to encourage them to get engaged, place an auction bid and help support golf in this country.”

Interested bidders need an eBay account in order to participate in the Golf Canada Auction. In addition, Golf Canada members will receive a $25.00 rebate on one successful auction bid per member.

As the auction gets underway, Golf Canada is also reaching out to member clubs across the country to donate a round of golf for either a threesome (if the group needs to be accompanied by a member) or foursome with two carts to be played at their facility during the 2011 season.

Member clubs interested in participating in the Golf Canada Auction can email members@golfcanada.ca.

Golfers interested in participating in the Golf Canada Auction in support of Canadian golf can make their bid from June 1-July 1 at www.golfcanada.ca/auction.
