Canadian Tour Deputy Commissioner and PGA TOUR Winner Dan Halldorson Honoured with ScoreGolf Lifetime Achievement Award
OAKVILLE, Ontario (May 17, 2011) Canadian Golf Hall of Famer and current Canadian Professional Golf Tour Deputy Commissioner, Dan Halldorson has been awarded with SCOREGolf's Lifetime Achievement Award. Halldorson becomes just the seventh SCOREGolf Lifetime Achievement Award Winner and first since 2001.
"Dan Halldorson was selected as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for his long and consistent contribution to the game of golf in Canada. As a player and now an administrator he has been a tireless promoter of Canadian golf and has always been willing to help his fellow Canadian golfers whether they be his peers or younger players coming up. For that reason, we chose to honour him on the 30th anniversary of his first SCOREGolf Award win as Canada's top touring professional," commented SCOREGolf Editor Bob Weeks.
Past winners of SCOREGolf's Lifetime Achievement Award include Robert H. (Tex) Noble, 1990; Richard (Dick) Grimm, 1992; Marlene Streit, 1994; Gary Cowan, 1999; Moe Norman, 2000; Sandra Post, 2001.
"We are thrilled that Dan has been added to the prestigious list of SCOREGolf Lifetime Achievement Award Winners," said Canadian Tour Commissioner & CEO, Rick Janes.
"Dan has been instrumental in the development of our tour and more importantly he has been a great role model for a number of Canadian and International players both past and present," added Janes.
Halldorson is a two time PGA TOUR award winner as well as a seven time Canadian Tour Winner. In addition to his stellar individual accomplishments Halldorson also represented Canada a number of times highlighted by his two World Cup wins in 1980 with Jim Nelford and 1985 with Dave Barr.
Halldorson was honoured at the annual SCOREGolf awards, which took place on Monday May 16, 2011 at Angus Glen Golf Club.
