HUGHES AND PANASIK TO DEFEND TITLE AT GOLF SUPPLY HOUSE PRO / PRO ON MONDAY
The annual Golf Supply House Pro / Pro Championship is set to take place on Monday May 9, 2011 at its traditional home, The Club at North Halton. "The staff and members of North Halton are always excited to host the Pro / Pro as it is a special day where we get to showcase our golf course and facilities while hosting a major event on the Ontario PGA tournament calendar. North Halton hosting the Pro / Pro has become a tradition for us and it is one we look forward to continuing," said Head Professional Cory Gentes of The Club at North Halton.
Ryan Hughes and Bob Panasik will be looking to defend their 2010 Pro / Pro Championship title. "As a team we are very productive and look forward to the challenge of repeating our win," said Ryan Hughes Head Professional of Beach Grove Golf & Country Club. "The Pro / Pro offers each team the opportunity to test your ability along with your with your partner in a competitive event. Personally I look forward to the event each year as I have the opportunity to play with a Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member. Panni continues to teach me the importance of breathing and its relationship with controlling the moment both in golf and in life. We always have fun together!" continued Hughes.
Golf Supply House is a proud supporter of the Ontario PGA and the title sponsor of the Pro / Pro tournament. "We are in business to help make our customers' experience more positive," said Paul Cherrie, President of Golf Supply House. "Our customers are the golf professionals and the only thing that is important to these professionals is to make their customers' experience at their facility a positive one. What we are trying to do is allow the golf professionals to improve their customers' experience at their facility. By being part of the Pro / Pro tournament, we hope to reach out to the golf professionals and do what we can to help them do just that," continued Cherrie.
The Ontario PGA Pro Pro Championship is one of the Ontario PGA's most storied and sought after crowns. The list of past champions reads like a who's who of Canadian Golf. Past Champions include; Moe Norman, Al Balding, George Knudson, Bob Panasik, John Irwin, Gar Hamilton, Ken Tarling, Danny King and the list goes on. Contested at the picturesque The Club at North Halton, the Pro / Pro is a team event that consists of two Head Professionals competing in a two person best ball.
ABOUT GOLF SUPPLY HOUSE
Golf Supply House has brought two very strong businesses together, namely Nearly New Golf and Golf Supply House. These two companies have combined 77 years of experience serving the golf industry. In many respects, they liken their role to that of a Caddie. A Caddie has many descriptions but is generally referred to as the person who carries a player's bag and clubs, gives insightful advice and moral support. The better Caddie is aware of the challenges and obstacles of the golf course being played. They provide knowledge and strategies for the golfer, and offer up the right equipment at the right moment, for the successful shot.
Along the same line, assisting their customers and providing innovative equipment at absolutely the best prices continues to be their goal. Going forward now as Golf Supply House, their new identity establishes them as "Caddie To The Golf Industry". As your "Business Caddie", they look forward to walking the course together and providing insightful advice, knowledge and assistance to help you achieve your goals.

(May 9, 2011 - Georgetown, Ont.,) Scott Cowx (HGCC Teaching Academy) and his partner Darren Allan (Otter Creek Golf Club) claimed the 2011 Golf Supply House Pro / Pro Championship at The Club at North Halton. Cowx and Allan shot 8-under-par 64 to earn their first place victory.
"Darren and I have enjoyed team competition in the past, including winning the fall Head Pro Head Pro in 2010, so we had great incentive to continue the streak into 2011. Thanks to Golf Supply House and North Halton for hosting," said Scott Cowx.
"Seeing all your fellow professionals after a long winter is a great way to start the year," said Darren Allan. "Not everyone gets away in the winter to play so it is great having an event that you can rely on a partner. I feel very comfortable playing with Scott and that is why we have had success. Golf is almost a secondary conversation with us while we are playing and I think that is why we play some of our best golf. It is great to start the year off with a win," continued Allan.
