PGA Tour Golfer Graham DeLaet Focusing on a Fresh Start on PGA Tour in 2012

PGA Tour golfer Graham DeLaet announced today he will not be back on the PGA Tour until January 2012. In consultation with his medical team, Graham a native of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, will continue to focus on his rehab. “He is almost 100% but not quite there”, says George Sourlis of Landmark Sport Group and Graham’s agent. “The aim is for Graham to be 100% when he resumes his full time schedule on the PGA Tour, and that will require a little more time.”

DeLaet suffered from a bulging disc in 2010 which became herniated. After surgery in January and several months of exercise, therapy and rehab, DeLaet returned to the PGA Tour in June but soon realized he wasn’t ready.

Rather than risking a setback, Graham will take the necessary time to continue to rehab and strengthen his back. “I am disappointed that the rehabilitation process has taken longer than anticipated but I feel great,” said DeLaet. “I’m playing some of the best golf of my career but still experiencing some lingering discomfort at the end of my rounds. With just a couple more months of rehab I’ll be in great shape to resume my playing career at the Sony Open in Hawaii.”

DeLaet will have playing privileges for 2012 via a Major Medical Extension that allows for up to 28 starts, two of which he used this season at the FedEx St. Jude Classic and the Travelers Championship. He plans to play a full schedule in 2012.

DeLaet turned professional in 2006. His corporate support team includes Titleist, RBC, Transitions Optical, BMW, J. Lindeberg, Tim Horton’s and Oakley.
