London Ontario Golf Editor Jeffrey Reed Wins National Writing Award
(London, ONT) - The Golf Journalists Association of Canada (GJAC) has named www.LondonOntarioGolf.com editor Jeffrey Reed winner of best website feature column in Canada.
The best in Canadian golf writing and photography was showcased July 19 at the Marine Drive Golf and Country Club in Vancouver. GJAC held its annual awards banquet to recognize excellence in writing and photography in newspapers, magazines and blogs. The awards are presented each year in conjunction with the RBC Canadian Open which is being held this week at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver.
For a second straight year, Reed won in the category, Web - News, Feature or Profile.
This is Reed's fourth national writing award in six years. In 2006 and '07, the London-based freelancer won National Mature Media Awards for sports feature stories which were published by Forever Young magazine.
"I've been freelancing since 1989, so this latest award is the culmination of a lot of hard work, and a little bit of luck. My golf journalism colleagues are a very talented bunch. It's an honour just to be included amongst them during the annual awards," said Reed.
Established in 2005, www.LondonOntarioGolf.com has become a staple of the local golf industry, with its comprehensive course listings, reviews and news board, updated numerous times daily. This summer, Reed established the London Ontario Golf Heart Award, to be given annually to a member of the local golf community who gives back to the game. Dorchester Golf Club's Mike Olizarevitch is the 2011 winner.
October 17 Media in Vancouver, B.C. handles the London Ontario Golf web design.
Reed is also host and community producer of, Forest City Fairways, a weekly golf show airing on Rogers TV London.
