About John Daly
John Daly turned pro in 1987, and he earned his first pro victory soon after at the 1987 Missouri Open. He joined the PGA TOUR in 1991, and won the PGA Championship that same year. Daly garnered quite a bit of media attention from this victory, due to the fact that he was the ninth and final alternate for the event. The eight other alternates couldn’t make it. John, playing in just his third major, secured a three-stroke victory. That earned him PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year honors in 1991. John won the British Open in 1995 in a playoff with Italian golfer Costantino Rocca at St. Andrews. Daly is the only eligible two-time major winner never selected to play in the Ryder Cup. Daly went on to win the Buick Invitational in 2004, and earned the PGA TOUR Comeback Player of the Year distinction that year. He is primarily known for his driving distance off the tee, earning him the nickname “Long John.” He’s earned some attention for his free-wheeling attitude and his multiple business ventures. Daly is also known for his involvement with many charities, including several in northwest Arkansas.

CARLSBAD, Calif. (June 16, 2013) – TaylorMade and Ashworth Golf Tour Staff professional Justin Rose pointed heavenward after tapping in for par on the 72nd hole at Merion on Sunday, a salute to his father after posting a one-over par 281 that earned him the U.S. Open Championship.

Rose’s bag included an R1 driver, RocketBladez Stage 2 Tour HL 3-wood, a combo set of RocketBladez Tour and Tour Preferred MB irons and three ATV wedges. Rose also became the first player to win a major championship with TaylorMade’s LETHAL ball, the same ball he used to excel in last year’s Ryder Cup Matches. 

Down the stretch Rose hit two critical iron shots, his tee shot on the 229-yard par-three 17th, with a RocketBladez Tour 6-iron, and his 240-yard approach on the long par-four 18th, with a RocketBladez 4-iron. 

Rose also used a 37-inch counterbalanced Spider Blade putter featuring a “Ghost Tour-only” black steel shaft and short-slant hosel, which helped him master the fast and tricky greens at Merion.

Rose, 32, also sported one-of-a-kind Ashworth Golf Cardiff footwear featuring his initials (JR) and his children’s names (Leo and Lottie) on the heel patch, in celebration of Father’s Day. The shirt he wore is part of the Ashworth Tournament Collection.

The win was the 20th worldwide victory for TaylorMade’s R1, the most adjustable driver TaylorMade has ever created.  Last week, the company introduced the R1 Black.

Fellow TaylorMade Staffer Jason Day continued his superb play in the majors with a T2, +3 finish.
